GENERAL INFORMATION

The Infrared and Raman Users Group (IRUG) (www.irug.org) provides a forum for the exchange of infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopic information, reference spectra and materials. The IRUG biennial conferences offer an excellent opportunity for the exchange of scientific results and new developments in the application of infrared and Raman spectroscopy to the conservation and study of the cultural heritage. Attendees to these conferences are scientists, conservators, restorers, as well as curators within the art conservation and historic preservation fields interested in the application of IR and Raman spectroscopy to the study of materials used in art and archaeology.

IRUG9 is the 9th Biennial Conference of the Infrared and Raman Users Group.

This is the first time that an IRUG conference will be held in South America. This will enable the participation of scientists, conservators, restorers and curators from universities and museums of this region, and contribute to a fruitful exchange of experiences in the analysis of the cultural heritage with colleagues from Europe, Asia and the Americas.
